I don’t think it’s part of the strategy to do that, I think it’s a warning to the Mullahs not to do that because if they do, they will not be safe.

Frankly I’m amazed that we have all observed how Trump negotiates and it still flies over the heads of so many.

Oh, I've no doubt re Trump's negotiating mastery.
What I do doubt is that those psychotic 'clerics' give a damn about any cultural/historic stuff other than as extraneous tools with which to cow the enslaved populace and retain their grip on power.
Conversely, I'd imagine there are many common Persians who'd see any gratuitous destruction of their historic sites as evidence of America's callousness.
But then I'm just an old carpenter, so who knows   ;-)
