Today the United States killed Major General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corpss Quds Force. The United States is now in a hot war with Iran after having waged war via proxies for the past several decades.
This doesnt mean war, it will not lead to war, and it doesnt risk war. None of that. It is war.
I do not know of a single Iranian who was more indispensable to his governments ambitions in the Middle East. From 2015 to 2017, when we were in the heat of the fighting against the Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq, I would watch Soleimani shuttle back and forth between Syria and Iraq. When the war to prop up Bashar al-Assad was going poorly, Soleimani would leave Iraq for Syria. And when Iranian-backed militias in Iraq began to struggle against the Islamic State, Soleimani would leave Syria for Iraq.
Qassem Soleimani was the adult supervision. He was spread thin over the past decade, but he was nonetheless a serious if nefarious adversary of the United States and its partners in the region. And Iran and its partners will now feel his loss greatly.

That’s a nice thought (television address) but picture it...the MSM talking over PT, ‘fact checking,’ etc.
Boastful general gone without televised warning ?
Red line announced after the fact ? (Want more a$$holes. Youll get more)
Iranian Protestors must be giddy with hope
Fixed it.
Excellent!
apparently this is what happens when the Iranian Ayatollah tweets to President Trump: “You cant do anything”
instead of engaging in a twitter war, President Trump responds with a REAL war move, and takes the Ayatollah’s main player off the board
hey, Ayatollah, you got anymore clever tweets about President Trump that you want the world to see?
Wow, when I read the title, I thought something happened to OBeelzebub.
Televise it and also go on the internet with it. Explain what it means to attack an embassy. Explain how Iran has been a thorn in our side for over 40 years - the hostage situation, bombing in Lebanon, funding terrorism. Lay it out and say the democrats will take Iran’s side and let American soldiers die.
So, Trump can’t do anything, right, raghead?
Oh now I see what Obama was trying to do - crush him with pallets of cash.
Like 20 but that would have required a President with balls.
I don't think it will turn into a real war. And if it does, it will be short lived. Trump is not Bush. It's not like we're going to invade Iran on foot. Trump won't do tit for tat for very long. He hits back much harder than those that hit him.
And if it did come to a real war, which democrat candidate would you rather see leading our armed forces?
Biden, who showed weakness today and said we shouldn't have done anything provcative in response to the embassy attacks?
Warren, who has talked tough on Iran in the past? But also said "Reagan military spending meant more bombs & fewer textbooks. (Apr 2017)", "Reduce size of standing army to reduce deficit. (Oct 2012)"
Sanders?
Or maybe the gay mayor of South Bend who wants to restore the Iran deal?
The Israelis’ would have in 2015 if Obama had not warned the Iranians in advance.
It was already a real war.
The US responded to an attack on its embassy in Iraq by Iranians by taking out their George S. Patton 13 hours later.
That’s how long wars become short ones. Iran’s economy cannot sustain an actual, real national military effort. They’ve now been pushed to doing either exactly that, or surrender.
Iran actually has Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Israel allied against them, not including the US. They are the problem in the Sandbox.
Nothing says ‘don’t actually make us lift a finger and do something about Iran’ like killing their Patton 13 hours after an embassy attack.
These are the things that shorten wars we are already in. The point to war is getting the other country to capitulate. This is how that is accomplished.
They made a movie “13 Hours” about the benghazi attack. Now they’ll need to make a sequel “Reverse 13 Hours”.
The sucking sound didn’t start until Obama’s pullout in 2011.
This event demonstrates why President Trump is so popular with common-folks who love America. Instead of capitulating, posturing, behind-the-scenes negotiating, or simply doing nothing, he takes out the biggest thorn in our side almost immediately after our embassy was attacked.
Dont think for one second that the mullahs arent shocked at the swiftness and violent answer to the embassy attack. This was long overdue.
Worth repeating, “Gives us a reason to knock out the nuke sites”
Israel is looking for any opportunity to do so, also.
Indeed.
Utter nonsense. The Iranian regime wants what every other such regime in history wanted: to survive. They know they can't possibly take us on in a head-to-head fight, especially since we've all but crippled their economy. It'll be the usual proxy/terrorist garbage. They have no other cards to play.
