Camille Paglia once commented that for every woman who complains about sexual harassment, there are ten women using their sexuality to get ahead.

I forwarded that review to family that hadn’t yet seen it.

Box office is only one part of the revenue stream. There’s also cable, streaming and DVD sales. Plus, Eastwood movies often build audiences because of the compelling stories he tells. Because Eastwood brings movies in on budget he will do fine on each movie, and will occasionally strike pay dirt.

15:17 to Paris: cost 30m, box office $57m
The Mule: cost $50m, box office $175m
Sully: cost $60m, box office $240m
American Sniper: cost $69m, box office $359m
Jersey Boys: cost $40m, box office $67m

Not the Covington Catholic SCHOOL, but the Covington Catholic School Students. The school administration did not stand by their students at first. I was horrified by this.

OK...I appreciate that...

Actually, I don’t really care...The last theater movie I went to see was “Ironman” in 2008...LOL

I know plenty of smart, dedicated, and talented women who have gotten ahead on the basis of who they are and what they do. To think that even a small percentage of those I know would advocate using their sexual wares as a professional tool is unthinkable to me. What is more likely is that those I know would view those women as prostitutes, though many would not say so in such words.

That’s why I won’t see “Midway”, I know how it ends

The problem is, going to the cinema, even if you don’t pay for the concessions, is still an expensive proposition, especially for a movie that doesn’t rely on special effects, and is probably better being watched at home.

I imagine when it’s available for streaming more people will see it that way.

As much as I want to see this movie, especially after reading many of the comments here, I am definitely in the category of people who will watch it when it is released for home viewing in some way. If they put it on Amazon non-Prime, I will definitely at least rent it. Maybe buy it, just to support Eastwood.

But I don’t go to theaters.

No spoilers, please. I failed history class in school, and plan to see that movie soon. I think the Germans were involved.

My wife was a large market reporter for 20 years. There are certainly women that flirted to get close to sources, but she never knew of anyone trading sex for access.

Maybe that’s why none of them are reporters any more.

I hated Titanic. I hated Top Gun. I guess I hate “popular” movies. I’LL probably love this one.

We used to have a word for women like this. I think it was “tramp”.

Now, I suppose, the Left considers them heroines.

Yeah. But it’s fun to point out the hypocrisy of the left when it’s so blatant. Otherwise-we let them run feral-and I’m not willing to give up that easy.

It’s a very powerful movie, and very well done. I saw it in a group of well-educated people, knowledgeable about current events, and it was favorably impactful on all.

Maybe it’s the timing of the release over the Christmas holidays. It’s not exactly a happy theme.

I am struck by how much more intelligent the real Richard Jewell seemed in the 60 Minutes interview video at the link than the portrayal in the Eastwood movie, good as the movie was. The real man was overweight, but better looking, as well.

RIP, Richard Jewell, patriot.
