Democrat Nancy Pelosi’s delay in transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate “puts politics ahead of the US Constitution,” declares Peter Roff at Newsweek. Pelosi claims she wants to be assured the Senate will hold a “fair” trial, yet that’s the height of political hypocrisy, given that the House’s impeachment process was so “manifestly unfair.”
Besides, “if Harvard’s Noah Feldman is right and the president is not deemed to have been impeached until the articles are forwarded,” why should the Senate prepare for a trial? Pelosi just wants “another bite of the apple.”
Democrats have been trying to impeach President Trump for “most of his administration,” and there’s word they may now try to impeach him a second time. I don’t understand the big deal with waiting to give the impeachment charges to the senate when they get back from their millionth vacation this year. I mean we did the exact same thing in 1998. Why are we giving nancy so much credit?????
