But if 1,000,000 people walk in the same forest over 100yrs, the statistics become more believable that one would die from a freak tree falling accident

Yes, that is how to look at it. the chance of a specific catastrophic random event occurring is indeed very small, but in a world full of random catastrophic events, the chance of one of them occurring is guaranteed!

I was once taking the Napali coast trail on Kauai for about the fourth or fifth time and it was POURING RAIN. and I heard this thunderous sound and then I looked up and there was about a 10,000 pound boulder coming right down the hill at me and I guessed and I jumped back about 3 feet and it missed me about one

Boy was THAT a close call

if I’d been wearing headphones who knows what it happened

Bottom line. In nature. KEEP YOUR EYES AJD EARS OPEN !
