Hiker, 28, is killed when 200-foot redwood falls on top of him on national park dirt trail
Subhradeep Dutta, 28, of Edina, Minnesota, was hiking at Muir National Woods Monument north of San Francisco with two other people Tuesday.
Five giant redwood trees suddenly fell while the trio were on a marked dirt trail about 4.30pm, including a 200-foot tree that struck Dutta. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A female hiker also was injured by falling debris and treated at a nearby hospital. A second man was not hurt The trees may have fallen due to wet ground that became soaked after a series of winter storms hit the area in recent weeks, say authorities

Dark Humor is a common human way to handle death.
Settlers camped in Clearings,
Interesting!

Where did You
Come across That
Tid bit?
Not knowing this man it is difficult to say, knowing God however I am sure it’s not Gods fault.
Of what possible reason would God bless a man with 28 years to live, love and walk his creation if all he as a man can do is take a dump on it?
Must be a pretty nice God huh?
Most of them are not even grateful...
Humor and death go hand in hand. It’s the way of the world.
E’s not pinin’! ‘E’s passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! ‘E’s expired and gone to meet ‘is maker! ‘E’s a stiff! Bereft of life, ‘e rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed ‘im to the perch ‘e’d be pushing up the daisies! ‘Is metabolic processes are now ‘istory! ‘E’s off the twig! ‘E’s kicked the bucket, ‘e’s shuffled off ‘is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!
“One thousand years from now, it won’t matter how long any of us, our children, or grandchildren lived.”
Had Genghis Khan died as a boy 1 in 200 persons today could not claim him as their ancestor.
He was a prolific seed producer.
I lived in Fla many years ago and was walking across a big open field and was struck by lightning. It knocked me out stone cold.
When I came to I walked home seemingly undamaged.
There is Free Republic in Heaven!? I KNEW IT!
I’ve been there, minus getting killed by the tree.
At least in my case it was so sudden and such an impact - knocking me out, breaking my neck and sundry other things - that I have no memory of being smashed by the tree. My only memories, gratefully, came when a civilian was bracing me and telling me to be calm and not move; that the EMT folks were on their way.
We don’t think about it much, but the weight of a tall large tree is immense, and when the tree falls it can take a car’s roof to the wheels (as it did mine); and that’s just an old oak and not even a big redwood. It is easy for the impact to be deadly to a human, particularly a direct hit.
I do not fear walking among big trees. I take the view that the odds were already great when I was struck once, so the odds of a second strike are even greater.
It could have been “my time”, but I guess I got a reprieve.
If you are not smart enough to figure out God, by all means resort to a cop out. As for me it’s not a cop out cause I know he is smarter than me.
I’m sorry about the tree falling on him, but 5 redwoods fell at the same time? Prayers to his family...
The massive EMP from a nearby arc discharge has a powerful stun effect to the nervous system. I imagine a lightning bolt is the ultimate.
Long time ago. Don't remember if I was told it or read it.
Every time I walk out of the house and see where a 3" diameter deadfall branch went straight into the ground 8"-10" like a spear, I think back to that.
Maybe to send you message that you should do something worthwhiile with your life.
Once a wild Redwood tastes human blood, it is no longer fearful of falling upon man.
Stay out of that Redwood forest.
He caught the last stage to Deadwood.
There are times when it doesn’t matter how strong your kung fu is.
I've heard that and am more than a little suspicious. Why would Genghis Khan be any more prolific than other kings, warlords, or tribal cheiftans having free access to multiple wives, concubines, peasants and slaves?
There, my darlink, no, no, don't get up, there just stay right there, that's the spot, that's perfect, my camera's ready, just another few seconds and---
