Are they required to have car insurance like the rest of us?
They are required to have a piece of paper that keeps the police from writing a ticket. They can buy that piece of paper with one month’s coverage, or less.
I believe car insurance is what is really driving this; more and more accidents in these dying states involve Thirdworlders who until a few months before had been riding burros or camels - and the insurance companies are getting raked over the coals when their American “insureds” have these claims (which fall under our “uninsured driver” part of our policies). After insurance, the next most pressing issue is actually teaching them to drive.
