Trump is playing into the dems game if he argues this.

If you were convicted by a grand jury for something you did not do and needed to clear your innocence, would you want a speedy trial to clear your name or argue process while your employer/customers think long and hard if they should retain your services? Read Amendment V1. Trump has been accused/indicted (Spare me the schematics because in the public eye, the dems impeached him), of committing a high crime and misdemeanor.

Why would you want that in the background going into the election season?

It would drive Pelosi crazy and force her to do something. Perhaps she wants to back out of the impeachment altogether.
