You can bet, beyond a doubt that, from this point on, they would argue a President under impeachment can not appoint a Supreme.
But what if the Senate dismisses the articles of impeachment the day after it passes the House?

No way that flies.

Irrelevant what the senate does. He is now, today an impeached POTUS. They will argue that a POTUS who has been impeached and going into a National election has should not have full powers.
