Anyone who lets his own legal team act against his interests has no business even signing a car loan or a personal check. This guy is supposed to be a national security expert?

How do you know what your best strategy to protect your interests is, without competent legal advice?

If your lawyers have a good reputation, and say you have no chance of winning, you go against what they tell you?

If the entire weight of the Department of Justice is brought against you, you know exactly what buttons to push, without being a lawyer?

Mostly what Flynn's legal team did, was not push back against the federal behemoth, and negotiate a plea deal.

However, if you are a large corporation, you have the resources to push back. I worked for two companies, IBM and Continental Baking, that successfully fought back against anti-trust lawsuits, back in the seventies. You have to have very deep pockets. Can’t even imagine how much that cost.

When your lawyer advises you to sign a sworn statement in a plea deal that includes an admission of factual information that you know to be false, then even a first grader knows there's a problem.

And when that same lawyer advises you to double down on your factually incorrect admission of guilt even after the judge in the case asks you repeatedly if you are guilty of the crime outlined in the charge against you, then you're just 'effing retarded.

This may not be a popular view here on FR, but to me Michael Flynn really comes across as a moron in this whole case.
