Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) indicated on Tuesday that Democrats will force votes during the Senate impeachment trial on calling witnesses such as acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former national security adviser John Bolton.
Schumer said that he will discuss his initial proposal for a Senate trial with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) but stressed that “every senator will have a choice.”
“We will have votes on whether these people should testify, and whether these documents should be made public as part of the trial, and the American people will be watching. They will be watching. Who is for an open and fair trial?” Schumer asked.
Schumer added that senators will have to decide if they “want a fair, honest trial that examines all the facts" or "a trial that doesn't let all the facts come out.”
Schumer sent his initial offer on Senate impeachment trial procedure to McConnell over the weekend. As part of his offer Schumer wants to call four witnesses, including Mulvaney and Bolton.
McConnell appeared to reject that offer on Tuesday, calling it "dead wrong," and warned that it "could set a nightmarish precedent for our institution."
McConnell and Schumer are expected to meet to discuss Senate trial procedure “very soon,” according to the GOP leader.

Democrats are the ones who don't want all the facts to come out.
The facts are not on their side...the media is.
Force votes will only happen if one has the opportunity. Set the rules like the House or toss it in the can. Screw Schumer.

The DEMs are going to attempt to put as much of this on the GOP as possible. With the MSM as willing accomplices.
I hope McConnell allows lots of time to debate each particular witness so they spend weeks debating this. The longer this stretches out the less people outside of DC like it and the more it hurts dems.
They won’t have a vote on each witness. Like in the House, they will have one vote on the structure of the trial and after that, the Republicans can do whatever the heck they want. McConnell will not allow a long, drawn-out trial.
Give the House demonicRats one hour to present their case using only witnesses or information publicly and previously presented in the House. Then vote to acquit. Trial over, back to work. Done before Christmas.
We all should know how this will play out. schumer will get 4 gopE senators to vote his way and will, for the most part control the senate hearing the same way the dems controlled it in the house. If the gopE had any intent to protect Trump, they would have already had fact finding hearings. But they have not had a single one. The only chance Trump would have had would have been a strong offense in the senate to start with. You watch, Trump will not even be allowed to call any substantial witness.
Someone needs to explain to Chuckles the Clown that after the circus called the House Impeachment, “Fair” is where pigs win blue ribbons.
This is my feeling, as well. I’m concerned about Romney, Collins, Murkowski and possibly Sasse and Gardner.

These people lie thru their teeth and laugh - it’s scary to think they wield such power.
Throw it back to the House saying that until the minority has their date as agreed to by Nadler, there will not be a Senate trial. Then go home for Christmas.
Mitch already said that this would go for around two weeks (to include Saturdays). What could happen is that they try to subpoena Joe Biden and he goes to court to prevent himself from testifying. That would drag this out for four to six weeks.

Just keep the hammering going, because after day 20 of testimony, people will start to see how deep the corruption is.
