I haven’t liked any of the cartoon voices since it became the norm to use celebrity actors. They just suck at it, period.
Acting on film and doing voices for animations are two completely different skills.
None of the good cartoon voices, like Mel Blanc, were also actors. Same with all the more modern animated success stories like the Simpson’s, family guy, and South Park - some of the lesser voices cross over into film, but people are good at one or the other.
I guess some people like recognizing the voice of an actor like Bruce Willis or Carman Diaz in an animated movie - and for them that is part of the attraction - but let’s face it; objectively, they suck at it.
I think the trend toward celebrity actors doing all the voices in animations was the worst thing that ever happened to animation. Cartoons were so much better before when the voices were done by people who were really good at it instead of actors who suck at it.
To me, it’s exactly the same as if music producers made the decision: “Hey since rock stars have to get up on stage and perform in front of people for music concerts, why not just use actors instead of real musicians?”
