McEachin also noted that Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam could call the National Guard, if necessary. “And ultimately, I'm not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” he said. “That's his call, because I don't know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that's obviously an option he has.

------------------------------ These people are truly stupid. 1) A governor cannot nationalize the National Guard 2) The Guard is not nationalized to enforce a STATE law 3) Having recently retired from the National Guard, I foresee big support from the command and staff, and an absolute hemorrhage of soldiers heading out the door.

We are dead serious, motherf**ker. And the governor doesn’t have the power to “nationalize” the Guard, cretin.

“can’t”

Search on “ governor summons national guard” and see when it has happened.

Also, what will cloud a guard’s decision is the potential dishonorable discharge and loss of benefits, sorta like with LEOs, who have never turned down a red flag raid.

This is why the public needs guns on par with the military.

You are so correct in pointing out the nationalization of the National Guard.

What these morons in their threats don’t realize is that the President CAN nationalize the Guard if the states are in violation of federal laws or committing unconstitutional acts, like restricting Second Amendment rights.

This is exactly what happened in Arkansas and Alabama when governors used the Guard to enforce school segregation and Eisenhower and then Kennedy nationalized the state Guard units whose local commanders then turned around and told their governors (Faunus and Wallace) to please get lost.

So go ahead, Blackface Northampton, call out your Guard and watch Trump take them over.
