Exactly, if they were smart they would never have gone down this road, especially with this case. Of course, if they were smart, they wouldn't be Democrats.
Anyway, I think there's a possibility that the Democrats go full throttle and take their chances in the Senate. Sure, it will likely be a bloodbath, but they've walked into certain defeat before-like when they nominated Hillary. They will push it to the Senate, and after they are trounced, they will get the media to put all the blame on the GOP for not seeing the evidence. Of course, no one else sees the evidence either, but that hasn't stopped their delusion so far.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you—the dems will want to be able to say they impeached Trump—to avenge there godhead Bill Clinton and all of their many, many suckophants still infesting the Deep State. Hillary’s (and Bill’s) slimy tentacles still imprison the Dem party.
They know there is no chance the Senate will convict, but that’s not what this is about. They also know there isn’t anything close to an impeachable offense.
This is about saying they impeached Trump. The dem moron politicians and Clinton c*cks*ckers everywhere would then be able to crow about “impeaching Trump”, which keeps the insane dem narrative alive.
And their constituents for the most part would feel the same—there would be no harm to the Congress critters come election time... most unfortunately.
