New NY Law Forbids Religious Employers from Firing for Abortion
National Review ^ | 11.21.19 | Wesley J Smith

With the Trump Administration supportive of religious liberty, the attacks against free exercise are currently coming from politically progressive states. New York just enacted a law that forbids any employer from punishing an employee for any reproductive health-care medical decision and specifically allows an employee to sue if he or she believes they have been so sanctioned....

The law also forces speech by requiring employee handbooks to inform employee of their rights under this law

This would seem to literally mean that, say, the Catholic Archdiocese of New York is legally required to inform employees they have the right to act as they choose with regard to issues such as birth control, abortion, or sterilization surgery — and moreover, tell such employees that they can so act openly even though contrary to the faith without fear of subsequent job consequence.

Simply Evil.

If +Dolan can’t fire someone for abortion, then I guess he’ll just have to declare them excommunicated.

Another remedy is to refrain from hiring any women of reproductive age.

If the law is as described this appears to violate the US Constitutions guarantee of Freedom of Religion Clause.

Some may say, well NYS is not prohibiting Christians from practicing their religion. They are not outlawing Christianity.

In fact, if this is as described, they are. Murder, is expressly forbidden. (The phrase is Thou Shalt Not Murder. It is NOT Thou Shalt Not Kill.) Murdering the unborn or, more recently advocated by the Left, the Just Born, and advocating for such is a sin.

To force Christians to accept the act or, to accept people who advocate for those acts within a church is a violation of their religious beliefs which are protected by the Constitution.

Or men of reproductive age. Plenty of women seeking abortions are practically dragged there by their baby daddies who don’t want the responsibility of paying child support. This is why Demonrat men love them some abortion.

Liberals intend to use the power of the state to coerce us to accept abortion whether we like it not.

Abortion is the Democrat religion.

So you don’t fire baby killers for abortion. You document their performance deficiencies and then fire them for poor performance or because you are cutting staff. Just make sure there is enough of a time delay that members of the thug party cannot argue “quid pro quo” or retaliation.
