What would be interesting is if the impeachment is delivered to the Senate. McConnell moves for immediate dismissal on ground that say it was improperly done. (Who can stop him if he has the balls to do it?) Even though they are supposed to take it up if its delivered, who’s going to make him? He might just ignore it. The general public is not going to demand he do anything. Only the “talking head” crowd will screech. One could say he has to or he will be doing violence to the Constitution. More violence that what’s already been done? Hardly! Everyone knows its politics, most would be happy to see it off their TVs.

McConnell doesn’t have the guts to do this.

This would be the DUMBEST move in the history of politics. I can't believe there are people who would actually WANT this outcome.

This would VALIDATE the charges of the democrats and they would say the GOP Senate is covering up for Trump.

You would squander a GOLDEN opportunity to:

1) TOTALLY screw up their primaries since every senator running for election would have to be in their seat 6 days a week and be gagged about talking about it (as a member of the Senate Jury - per the rules (Lindsey Graham) - at least through Iowa.

2) Call Adam Schiff and force him to plead the 5th about knowing the ID of the whistle blower

3) Subpeana the Bidens over Burisma - and force them into pleading the 5th

4) Expose Cloudstrike and the DNC for all the world to see - which leads to ->

5) FISA and the Russia Hoax and then you call all of them to testify and the take them all down

So - if McConnell did as you suggest - he actually is HURTING Trump. It is no different than a DA indicting you when you have SMOKING GUN evidence of your innocence and half the town thinks you are guilty - and you never get a chance to prove it - but you know if you get a chance - you can show how crooked the DA is and take them all down.

A quick dismissal is the worst outcome of all.

When McConnell held up the Supreme Court nomination, the left was pretty ticked off, and I don’t think they have ever gotten over it. They certainly took it out on Kavanaugh pretty good. I just can’t see McConnell brushing it off. Still, I don’t think a trial hurts Trump. Consider that their hand-picked witnesses aren’t able to establish any sort of a case against the president. Given a chance to fight back, this time calling the shots, a Senate trial would do more harm to the Democrats.

“ McConnell moves for immediate dismissal on ground that say it was improperly done.”

President Trump will not want immediate dismissal - he will want a trial for several reasons:

1) a thorough bipartisan Senate trial would publicly exonerate him of all wrongdoing, whereas a quick Republican dismissal would be seen by the public as a partisan “slap on the wrist”, and the fake news would easily spin it as “he’s guilty but the Republicans let him off the hook”.
2) a Senate trial would be the perfect opportunity to publicly lay the groundwork for prosecuting Spygate, which after all was the origin of the impeachment hoax. The same witnesses and exculpatory evidence proving President Trump’s innocence will also prove that he was framed - which was the motive behind the illegal Spygate coup in the first place. The fake news would be unable to separate Spygate from the impeachment hoax, forcing them to cover a Spygate story they would otherwise have buried.
3) a drawn out Senate trial over impeachment and removal during January and February of 2020 will leave the DNC nomination process in tatters, since half of the nominees are Senators.

No, I don’t think they will go for a quick dismissal - they will raise the anti first - and then play their Trump card: the fact that President Trump is innocent, and the fact that the Democrat impeachment effort was part of an illegal conspiracy to weaponize government agencies in an attempt to frame him and remove him office.
