Failed Experiment: Why Intermittent Wind & Solar Have Never Worked & Never Will
Stop These Things ^ | 17 November 2019 | Stop These Things

Three decades, massive subsidies and yet intermittent wind power’s contribution to world energy needs remains little more than a rounding error.

Electricity that can’t be delivered as and when it’s needed has no commercial value; massive subsidies are the only ‘value’ that attracts investors to wind and solar. Cut the subsidies and wind and solar investment would evaporate, overnight.

As Gail Tverberg explains below, chaotically delivered wind and solar have never worked in the past. So, there’s no reason to expect that they’ll ever work in future. In a sane and rational world, we’d call it a ‘failed experiment’, clean up the mess and move on.

The well pump is 240 volt and 385 deep so I needed one that put out 240 volts and could easily handle it. The Grid Tie is setup to run on my Generator if and when needed. It was the best Inverter I could find for my application, and it absolutely works great. It will run my well for 2 hours straight without a problem, and my float switch setup on my 10,000 tank is set at about 300 gallons and takes about 40 minutes to fill when it activates. More than enough water for 2 people a day.

The first set of batteries only lasted 6 years, but I had a xantrex charge controller that cooked the batteries due to their design and I went through a ton of water. Since I got the new NoName MPPT controller and new batteries, I hardly go through any water at all now. Should go over 10 years

A hybrid system will provide it’s own 60hz sync if the grid goes down. All the solar “save money” company’s do not install hybrid inverters though as they cost a bit more.

And for the Iowa farmers now getting paid for use of their land...Who will pay to remove, haul away and otherwise dispose of derelict windmills once the subsidies end, the utility goes broke, and broken burnt out generators lie strewn about?

If they want them gone, the land owner will...Or the usual money source of last resort, the taxpayer...

Wind and solar are good as supplemental power for small installations. As a part of the actual power grid, it’s less than useful.

Only morons believe that solar works in large scale applications.

Yes, how dare we question the wisdom of those who clear cut forests to install wind turbines that slaughter millions of birds, bats and bees annually.

How dare we question the wisdom of those who cover thousands of acres with solar panels, changing the eco-system forever while cooking anything passing overhead.

How dare we question the “settled science” of man-made climate change.

They already want to put us in prison for such questions....just a hint of what will happen if these people ever get total control over gov’t.
