That’s not the point. You can’t win an election (in swing states) with just Republican votes. You need independents. And you need new voters.
In 2016, Trump won a surprising number of independent voters in the suburbs of the swing states. Those same voters right now are very lukewarm. Now maybe most of those voters will ultimately come back. But right now, they are not solid. They are going to need convincing. Trump also won 53% of white women in these states. He doesn’t have that right now. He’s got to find a way to get those women back.
If you think Trump’s re-election is in the bag, then you are making the same mistake Hillary made in 2016. Democrats are turning out in very heavy numbers in their strongholds. This is not going to be an easy election.
and basing all these projections on off year Gov races ...talking about coat tails... is a little sky is falling. This Edwards actually ran ads bragging about his relation with Trump. Romney and McCain both ignored their bases trying for the “middle”...heh...we see how that worked out.
It’s worth noting Trump will not be running against Edwards. Someone who would never get through a nation Dem primary. He’ll be running against someone who is palatable to the young Turks. Even itbhe were Trump would be focusing exclusively on this guy. Nation wide. 60 million people will watch him debate Trump. Things don’t happen in a vacuum. Problem with Trump trying to help now is he goes around telling people that XYZ person is a Trump guy and we all know that’s not the case. When Trump goes around the country prompting Trump and, MAGA and America First it’s an entirely different game
