Show the American people the swamp.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How likely is it that swamp monsters want to expose themselves?
“There are things that the senate needs to follow through to the end, but a sham impeachment, totally biased and without a crime, is a completely foolish endeavor.
Cornyn and republicans and some not-so-crazy democrats, need to get some common sense into their heads.”
You want to know how much of a sham it is? This morning Schiff would not even recognize Jim Jordan when Jordan raised a point of order - several times. The iron-clad rule is that if a member of the committee raises a point of order, EVERYTHING stops until that point of order is clarified. Schiff is so deranged in his attempt to get rid of Trump that he cannot even abide by the most basic of rules. This is a TOTAL sham - and the Republicans should definitely vote to dismiss the entire thing out of hand if it ever gets to the Senate.
I am getting the impression that Mitch would love to drag this out because he knows it would damage the democrats.
Won’t be a kangaroo court in the Senate. Trump would get to call his witnesses and cross would not be restricted.
There is something to be said about NOT dismissing the charges. It would look like a cover up if we did.
The Senate trial would have to be restricted to the charges in the articles of impeachment. No NEW fishing expeditions! No NEW charges!
We should model the Senate trial after the House Inquiry. Our chairman would have final say on all witnesses and allowable questions.
It would only be FAIR, Right?
Only a few Republican senators voted “Not guilt” during the 1999 Senate trial for Clinton. However, theses included our deep state favorites:
Richard Shelby, Alabama
Susan Collins, Maine
Wishful thinking. Dragging it out harms blue state Senators most of all. Collins, Gardner, etc. McConnell is just saying whatever now as excuses for doing nothing while the House impeaches POTUS.
There will be at least a month of bickering over process. Burr said 6-8 weeks for trial earlier this week. So plan on no judges out of the Senate for at least 3 months once the impeachment circus gets there.
In a regular court, it would be grounds for dismissal or a mistrial. When a defendant's lawyer is not allowed to ask questions, the case is totally one-sided and against the law.
The senate should be looking at events like this and mentioning them before declaring the case as completely biased and unfair and a sham.
