An ambassador is the personal representative of the President to the host country. If the President or the host government loses faith in that ambassador, he or she is removed. As a former foreign service officer who served for 28 years including in Tehran during the downfall of the Shah and the entry of Khomeini, I find her an embarrassment. She doesn't represent the foreign service.
