A sorry performance by a disgruntled employee with a giant ego who thinks she is entitled to be an ambassador. She works for the President, not the other way around.

An ambassador is the personal representative of the President to the host country. If the President or the host government loses faith in that ambassador, he or she is removed. The President can remove an ambassador for any reason or no reason at any time. Yovanovitch should Google Ambassador Hume Horan and how he was removed from Saudi Arabia.

As a former foreign service officer who served for 28 years including in Tehran during the downfall of the Shah and the entry of Khomeini, I find her an embarrassment. She doesn't represent the foreign service.

Everywhere Marie Yovanovitch went turned bad. She started off in Somalia, how did that go? Then fast forward to Ukraine, where the new Ukrainian President spoke unfavorably about her in my second phone call with him. It is a U.S. President’s absolute right to appoint ambassadors.
