“The cop was just doing his job.”

The sandwich eater refused to identify himself and provided attitude instead. He forced the issue. All the cop haters couldn’t wait to hear one side.

He was not obligated to identify himself and the cops deserved the attitude. The sandwich eater was brilliant. Bravo. He handled those caps very well.

The guy eating the sandwich had no obligation to give the cop his name. This is not the Soviet Union. People have rights in America.

You can argue all you want about eating or not eating the sandwich on the train platform, but the man doesn't have to give his name to the police.

And neither would you have had to give your name. See how that works?

Bart has already apologized for the incident. I'd like to see the outcome of the arrest. California is already releasing tons of criminals onto the streets because their prisons are overcrowded.

I don' think they need to add another hardened criminal sandwich eater to the prison population.

So, you must “provide ze papers!” on demand now? For eating a sandwich on the BART platform? I know this is California, but even Cali isn’t Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia just yet... The sandwich was an excuse to identify the guy, search his bag and check for warrants. That’s it, period. The cop probably performs similar “stops” every day, but this time Joe Citizen pushed back.
