“The changes came like a tidal wave.”

Charles, the changes didn’t “came” you made them happen by selling off land to developers. Did you think they would not build?

This sickens me in the states I go through and see food land (agriculture and decent live stock land) being turned into more and more overpriced housing and over priced processed food eateries.

what good reason is there for towns to push out their food producers and pop up hundreds of more homes with mouths to feed in them, then have to truck in food?
just greed..

Folks don’t want to be farmers anymore, that’s why. Why be a farmer when you can spend your life writing code and making money. Not having to worry about drought or flood.

Personally, I’d much rather be the farmer or rancher, but kids today don’t want any part of that stuff.

Grandparents/parents die, they owned and ran the farm, kids went to college and became lawyers, or whatever. They sell the land, buy a bigger house and that’s it.

However, I wonder how many regret it, later in life. Especially those that grew up on one, doing the chores and working the land.
