Leaders from Germany and its allies on Saturday commemorated the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Berlin Wall, which helped spur the fall of Communism in parts of Europe.
Officials from Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic attended the ceremony at Bernauer Strasse a site where part of the wall still stands before they placed roses in the barriers gaps, The Associated Press reports.
"Some of the East German police were rude and suspicious. Others were suspicious and rude."
"One, Two, Three" one of my all-time favorite movies.
Reminds me of the movie "Goodbye, Lenin" where they put together a fake newscast to make it look like people were fleeing West Berlin for East Berlin. That's another of my all-time favorite movies.
somehow that let the commies into Washington DC....
Yes they were. LOL! Being a 15 year old with blondish hair in ‘62, they headed straight to me at the back of the bus when the came on board on the east side of the border. I was thinkin’ “No, I’m not trying to sneak IN to east Berlin.” LOL! Surprised you remembered that from the past.
