I don't know about his opinion, but I believe it is because of the MASSIVE goober-mint corruption that is attempting to be hidden.
An "insider", of either party, wouldn't have been treated thusly.

1.) The American voter had the temerity to elect him in the first place instead of PIAPS. They must be taught a lesson so that it never happens again.

2.) To discourage any other Trump like figures who may emerge at some point in the future. That also must never happen again. They must fear what would happen to their family and friends if they were to do it.

3.) To cover up the mind boggling amounts of corruption engaged in by powerful members of BOTH parties. This Ukraine thing is a razor sharp dagger pointed straight at the heart of the Dems and the Deep State. And they know it.

4.) To finally once and for all destroy the last few shreds of our Constitutional Republic.
