TUCSON, Ariz. Tucson will not become Arizona's first sanctuary city after voters rejected Prop 205 Tuesday night.
The ballot measure was soundly rejected by 71.4 percent of voters in Tucson, according to unofficial election results released by the city, with all precincts reporting. Some remaining ballots will be counted in the coming days.

In 2006, when the borders/illegals issue first became a hot topic, a poll in AZ showed 46% of Hispanics were against illegal immigration.
I suspect the percentage is higher now that the issue has been hashed over for 13 years.
Yes, that is very encouraging. Another example of people being fed up and doing something about it.
Just as was done in California, one judge will set side the vote.
The day California died: Prop 187 set aside by a federal district court on November 11th 1999.
I live in Tucson. Great news.
Well done, Tucson.
The Mexicans were generally opposed to the plan. The last thing they want is to lose jobs to Nicaraguans, Guatemalans, El Salvadorans, etc.
Truth be told, Tucson is a sanctuary city. The city council has more or less run the police away from immigration enforcement. This vote, if it had passed, merely would have made things official.
Yup!
Damn..there’s some people that that think!!
How the HELL did that idiot measure make it onto the ballot in a place like Tuck-Son in the first place? I realize there’s a large(ish) progressive element running around the Grand Canyon State in their Birkenstocks and UGGs these days, but did they actually think voters in a town like Tucson — which oftentimes experiences the worst in illegal alien depredations — would go for this? Ummmm... okay.
And Tucson is pretty liberal.
In Tucson you can get anything on the ballot with a petition and enough signatures. It helps to have a judge on your side.
Thanks.

I’m just now finding out about Beshear’s pro-abortion stance. Terrible news. Sorry I made my comments earlier on this thread. Sad day for Kentucky. Still hoping they find voting fraud and Beshear loses in the final count.
Nope. The very liberal, democrat city politicians opposed it too.
There is Hope
[ One judge, a quick trip through the AZ state legislature, and this will get corrected. ]
Happened in Kommie fornication ... it will happen here too
A fair number voting against this will likely include Hispanic conservatives who oppose illegals coming in from Central America.
