Question is, why would any flag officer leave one of their people, particularly a decorated one, exposed and alone in a time of trial? This is a definite morale corrupter.
The caliber of the flag officer decisions & those made by the brass do not seem in keeping with the tradition of the service. Those soldiers go into harm’s way and in very difficult conditions leaving families & friends and they are hung out to dry, crucified as “examples” or as “fall guys” or for “virtue signalling by men who have never been under that pressure.
It is not supposed to be Hobson’s choice where you eliminate the enemy and are held accountable as though it was murder or you stand down and let the enemy kill your team.
I suspect these officers are of a different caliber distorted by the same forces that controlled Obama, a dislike for America and for the American soldier. All of the firings over Obama’s terms and the type of people that were given responsibility & advance. Obama was trying to humble America and promote her enemies; this is of a piece.
