Venezuelan just sounded better because the Venezuelan people, like the Californians, voted for their misery.

Here in NJ we have uncontrolled burns. Some of our biggest forest fires were started by the government!

Leave CA, Victor, and don’t look back, lest you turn into a pillar of salt.

Is California Becoming Premodern?

The inevitable outcome when you throw open your borders for third world illegal invaders and crooked, pandering politicians embrace them.

I think Cali .....

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever call us “Cali”. Some of us think it is offensive. Saying “Cali” is gangster-based.

Say “CA”, or use the whole word “California”.

You can also refer to the regions of CA, like “NorCal” if from points North, and “SoCal” from points south.

“Cali” should be banned here on Free Republic.

What did California use for lighting before candles?

Electric light bulbs.

Liberals took a perfectly good state, and destroyed it.

The scene expands to show the ruins of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Close.

A very interesting comment. My last trip to CA was just a few months ago to a place just north of Sacramento. I wanted to take our camper, but the folks I visited said none of the campgrounds were safe, so I slept on their couch.

The Californians I interacted with seemed like such normal people until you talk politics. They are such leftards, must be from decades of brainwashing. One climate change believer said the water is rising on the California beaches, and actually believes this. I asked what about Florida beaches, water seeks it’s own universal level, why aren’t the Florida beaches going under. No answer. And these people classify themselves as Republicans!

If Mr. Hanson hasn’t gotten his backside out of Calizuela, there’s your answer as to his condition.

Smart is as smart does.

If memory serves, Solzhenitsyn high-tailed it back to Russia the moment he was able.

Some people have motives beyond the material.

Consumers blame the state for not cleaning up dead trees and brush, along with the utility companies for not updating their ossified equipment. The power companies in turn fault the state for so over-regulating utilities that they had no resources to modernize their grids.

So, someone: What's the actual truth of that last? Real or at least solid estimate $$ figures please: $$ needed to do the job vs. $$ available, assuming the utilities need to turn at least a small profit over time, above and beyond things like grid maintenance and upgrades, to stay in business.

Also - I read this on FR somewhere - is it true that CA electric utilities' right of way(s) were narrowed at some point due to gov't action? In fire prone areas? That seems literally suicidal.

“...in order to form a more perfect union.”

Post modern? Not so much. Post civilization. We are fortunate to have lived in a fabulous republic during peak civilization.
