What engineer worth a damn allows a single point of failure with this level of risk???
Not one that works at Tesla. It would be an obvious design error, and Tesla did not make that error. See post #51.
Failure Mode:
Battery overheats, catches fire.
RPN 10
Remedy:
Sense over-current and/or excessive thermal pre-compromise, open all doors automatically.
Either way, set off alarms exterior and interior.
Prompt customer to exit vehicle.
Haptic seat pulses, horn activation, audio warnings...
Tesla is going down.

-——————————————————————————————Perhaps came from Boeing and designed the 737Max firmware.
The dirty truth about being an engineer is that the managers call shots like this. Cf. Boeing Max 8. No engineer wants to build crap. In a small design problem it can be bad engineering but in a huge systemic problem, or one which goes on a long time, it comes down to management. Hiring incompetent engineers ( e,g. age discrimination, H1Bs etc) who dont push back is also is a management decision with predictable consequences.
Same for blaming the manufacturing line or labor.
Management can demand quality or demand you let go and push out crap.
Making management look good and reinforcing their promises/stories/lies is job 1.
