We here in Alberta have talked about this extensively. I asked thousands of people first hand, “would you prefer to separate or join the US?” It was about a 50/50 split, but nobody except one old lady asked what was wrong with the way it was.

We will push this extremely hard tomorrow if this doesn’t go well. If Alberta joined the US, overnight you’d have the most wealthy energy independent country in the world, with the world’s leading experts in oil and gas, not to mention the agriculture and forestry and mining. We are sitting on a gold mine here and they won’t let us develop.

Yes, I believe Alberta has the highest per capita income outside of Luxembourg, according to that book I just read.

Would love to have you guys come into the U.S. and join all the other states now starting to get rich on energy (i.e. the Dakotas, Montana, etc).

The rest of Canada would go down like dominoes, that is almost for certain.
