I just don't what people like Obama expect to get out of this. I mean, if a Canadian Prime Minister told ME how to vote, even if he were conservative, I would say (to myself), heck with you. I tend to vote for what is in my nation's best interest, not necessarily what may be in the best interests of Canada.

I mean, we get along with Canada and all, but I get the impression that they view us warily. An American president telling a Canadian how to vote? Sure, whatever you say...

...unless Obama views himself as some sort of 'citizen of the world' not tainted by association with America...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s precisely how Obama views himself.
As one of the other posters pointed out, Canadians are indeed rather touchy about Americans sticking our noses into their political affairs. This may indeed backfire.
“...Obama views himself as some sort of ‘citizen of the world’ not tainted by association with America... “
Which makes him an even bigger candidate to be locked up in GITMO.
