A murder warrant for Aaron Dean, the Fort Worth officer who killed Atatiana Jefferson, tells what led up to the shooting from the perspective of her 8-year-old nephew, who was in the room with her when she was shot.
The boy told a forensic interviewer that he and his aunt were playing video games together about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when she heard noises outside. She took her handgun from her purse and pointed it toward the window before she was shot, the nephew said, according to the arrest-warrant affidavit.
The 8-year-old saw his aunt fall to the ground. Jefferson, 28, was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m.
Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus said at a news conference Tuesday that it makes sense that she would have a gun if she felt that she was being threatened or there was someone in the backyard.

And we wonder why this site, along with so may others, is dying and not taken seriously by people who actually can think critically and logically.
Echo chamber just like the extreme left sites (who also hate cops, BTW).
I wonder, if the victim wasn’t black/minority and the cop white, would this even be a news story? Let’s check back when all the facts come out (not that the media will report any of them).
Heh. How’d that all work out? Hands Up, Don’t Shoot...another agenda propagated by the media and their counterparts.
Hey stupid citizens, clean up your act and stop falling for the Agenda! And for heavens sakes stop being stupid!
Some wonder why the “government” has so much control.
Some wonder why our education system is failing and is liberal and all about the liberal agenda.
Some wonder why cops are hated while criminals are idolized.
Some wonder why hollywood and reality tv is so popular with the masses.
Some wonder...blah blah blah.
I no longer wonder, I know why...each side of every issue and political viewpoint goes extreme and only one side of that benefits. Critical thinkers have no place to go so we allow the extremists to control the narrative. And we all lose.
If all that’s true, then he’s guilty as sin. But save it for the trial. I’m not anti-police, but I am very much anti- police abusing their authority and power, especially when someone gets killed. I wouldn’t call it premeditated murder, however, unless someone can prove it was.
Do you remember the Boston Marathon Bombers fiasco?
LE shut down an entire neighborhood. Complaints galore about that. Cops/FBI/etc. knocking on doors, etc. all to catch terrorists yet people were appalled their rights were infringed. A homeowner saw something and alerted LE which led to an apprehension and arrest. But, the media wasn’t as concerned about that as it was about the poor immigrant blah blah blah...and many people sided with the neighborhood people who complained about their rights being infringed and the media sensationalized all that like they do.
We (people on our side, the Constitution), always somehow side with criminals, terrorists, etc. It’s amazing. Ugh!
I see a white cop killed a black woman and that’s why this is even “news” and that’s what this country has become because that’s what the left has wanted it to become. I don’t care about many things but I want facts and this story hasn’t provided ALL the facts yet. Doesn’t mean a damn thing that the Chief says this or that.
This story is a story not because of castle doctrine or stand your ground or any 2nd A rights but because a white cop killed a minority and that is what I have a problem with just as I have a problem with all the “abductions” etc. that make it onto the news.
In NJ, we were inundated with the little 5 year old girl who was supposedly abducted while her mother sat in her car on her phone and allowed a 5 year old and her 3 year old brother to wander around a playground for who knows how long (and yeah being up at 3 am playing video games is eye raising if it happens on a daily basis). Yet, after the first two weeks, nothing updated on this story.
Then another local story, a 14 year old teen from Mount Holly allegedly abducted and sold into sexual slavery...all over the local news for weeks then nothing when she was found and no sexual slavery or abduction. But it was a story by the media.
Freddie Gray, Baltimore riots.
Ferguson riots.
Yeah, my give a damn is busted on this nonsense.
LMAO!
It happens daily in every major city and even in suburbia and rural areas. The question is why is this even news. I know why.
I ascribe it to a black/minority victim and a white cop. It’s the only reason it’s even news.
LOL! And well said.
Unfortunately, this site has turned into something similar to DU and the like.
And they don’t even know they are being pandering to and are falling in lock step.
Oh they’re doing it alright. All across the US. Have been in the major cities for the last 20 years. There, they don’t even bother to police since they’re not allowed to. And if by some chance they do, they’re eviscerated for it if the media runs a story and the “victim” isn’t white. A white, Christian, man specifically. Heaven help you if you’re a white cop.
Exactly. But that’s what this sensationalized media story wants to address and spread far and wide.
I actually agree with you.
Of course, the Grand Jury will indict. Riots will happen if they don’t.
Bullshit.
And this is why our country is in the state it is...supposed conservatives/constitutionalists/ religious/libertarians/economists/etc. can’t agree on anything while the dems along with their various “extremists” can and vote.
We (conservatives) allowed our institutions to be taken over by liberals. Education (huge, it’s our kids, the future, our greatest resource), and we just allowed the marxist takeover because reasons: doesn’t affect me, I homeschool, my kids go to private/catholic school (the latter for me), it’s only school what does it matter, blah blah blah. Well, it matters.
Entertainment. It’s been affected in every aspect. TV, Movies, News. Our kids watch. We watch.
Religion. For me, it’s the Catholic Church. Becoming more liberal in parish and school but I’m tired of fighting it alone. So, I give up. Until I don’t.
LE/Govt. The media and entertainment is presenting these views of justice that just never existed ever and even smart, logical thinking people are falling for it. I grew up in a fireman and cop family way way back and if I were ever a suspect or even questioned by cops the first thing I’d ask for is a freakin lawyer. Are people that stupid not to?
For example, I recall the jon benet ramsey case...and how appalled people were that the parents immediately asked for a lawyer/had a lawyer. That’s common. How could one NOT require that? Are some people just stupid? I’m innocent...really? Do people not know how our justice system, any justice system works? It boggles my mind.
I’ve decided some people are just morons and Darwin and all.
So maybe playing video games at 3am is normal to some people and I get that. Just like I get that people come out of bars at 3am yet the same people saying it’s ok for an 8 year old to be playing video games at 3 am would have a problem with a woman coming out of a bar or night out at 3am...there’s that.
Teen or adult woman coming out of a bar or coming home from anywhere at 3 am and an 8 year old playing video games at 3 am. What could possibly be the difference? Ugh
These sensationalized stories seem to happen in certain segments of our society. IMO
Did the police who came to collect her body find a gun?
But the fact of the matter is, the victim is dead and the cop shot her. And he's been charged with murder.
Kind of hard to blame the murdered victim, black, white or whatever, who was in her own home. She didn't kill the cop. He killed her.
I really don't understand what your point is, other than saying the media controls this narrative, which may be true. But apparently the police chief and the local prosecutor agree that the cop was wrong.
An innocent citizen is dead. A killer cop shot her, with absolutely no justification whatoever.
Deal with it.
I do not believe it was premeditated either.
