Perhaps because it is irrelevant.

I'm not going to do that again.

Yeah, why be so colossally wrong twice?

Your proto-virtue signaling won’t work on me.

I am a parent, and I see the effects of children up at all hours playing video games and tapping on smart phones. Damaging to health, development, brain activity, and development of basic healthy living habits.

Staying awake with a child until the wee hours is irresponsible - not much different than feeding one’s children a trash diet because one cannot be inconvenienced with proper nutrition.

The lady is not at fault of being shot. But she was irresponsible to have the child awake at that hour. Depending on the neighborhood, she may have been asking for trouble.

You are free to disagree and endorse the free-for-all that poses as proper child rearing in this generation.

We will lose the Republic if we don’t start raising children properly.

Have to be wrong the first time in order to be wrong the second time. Since I wasn't, your point is moot.

Mens Rea is a principle of law that is so old, it still has a Latin name.

2. Announce yourself and become a target.

Too bad. That’s part of his job.

Oh....did you stop following the Guyger trail before she was convicted of murder?

Just like this guy is going down for murder.

No matter how much Latin you want to throw around.

If you're a cop of some sort, please resign. NOW. Find some other way to make a living. I ask that of you for your own good, and for the good of We the People.

Are you a cop?

I’m someone who thinks the basics of safe weapons handling are not to be casually tossed aside in a misguided effort to excuse murder.

They are, to the contrary, intended to help PREVENT crimes of this nature.

You?

If you look upthread, you’ll see where I pointed out that this individualy violated most of the basic rules of firearm safety ... as a result, he killed an innocent citizen.

Is that citizen’s death “OK” with you?

Actually, according to the reports, the police were requested to do a welfare check. A burglary was not mentioned. And they never, from the account I read, knocked on her door nor identified themselves but went prowling in her back yard.I don’t know how they do them in Texas, but in Plant City, Florida when the police were requested to do a welfare check they knock on the door, identify themselves and say “We were requested to check on you and see how you are doing”. Once satisfied that the subject is o.k. they depart.

The Officer is still screwed because in some States it is Legal for an individual to keep a firearm in their home. It is also legal for an individual to carry said firearm in their house. The nephew did not state that she pointed the gun at an individual. She pointed it at a window, which is probably legal until she discharges the firearm. Then it is discharging a firearm within the City Limits.

It is the facts that are going to convict him. The police were requested to do a welfare check on the individual in the house. Instead of identifying themselves and doing what they were requested to do, they began prowling in her back yard. Your argument is with the Police Department. They are who said he committed a crime.

She took her handgun from her purse and pointed it “toward the window” before she was shot, the nephew said, according to the arrest-warrant affidavit.

That changes the story a bit.

A lot of people simply refused to grasp the idea, and wasted my time trying to reason with them.

I'm not going to do that again.

Thanks for the warning. I'll get off this thread if it's another round of Freeper cop haters. They are one thing I wish Jim would clean up.

Interesting. My perspective is some people should live in high crime areas and realize not all is what it seems. It’s far different today.

White cop, black victim. This is why this story is even news.

“Why do people like you keep turning this thing around to make it look the kid or the victim are the guilty ones?”

Hmm. Why do people like you want the cop to be a vicious murderer? See how that works?

There are corrupt/rotten cops and there are low life people. And then there are the media, the lowest of the low where only the details they want released are released.

Why is this even “news” when many murders happen daily? Minority victim. The media cares.

Cop could be wrong but it only matters for “other” reasons.

Exactly. At least he was smart in that respect.

If I were ever to be questioned by the police or any other government official, I’d request a lawyer/lawyer up immediately. That’s just smart, common sense.

I don’t know where this idealized view of law/justice comes from but it’s not reality for anyone regardless of station in society.

People watch too much tv and form their views on procedural dramas.

Hmm. Maybe quit making excuses for low lifes? Or quit making excuses for whatever story the media is putting out?

Examples:

https://www.nj.com/cumberland/2019/10/where-is-5-year-old-dulce-alavez-search-continues-4-weeks-after-mysterious-disappearance.html

Or this other one that was also all over our news for a week or so but nothing since the “story” didn’t line up with the reality:

https://nypost.com/2019/09/23/missing-new-jersey-teen-aviana-weaver-found-safe-in-philadelphia/

The last place I’d look for facts about anything is what the news media releases.
