Columbia is a New Latin toponym in use since the 1730s for the Thirteen Colonies. It originated from the name of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and from the ending -ia, common in Latin names of countries (paralleling Britannia, Gallia, and others).

An aspect of this story that know one seems to catch is that Karl Marx hated Christopher Columbus and wrote about him being the personification of all that is evil in European Colonialism and Western Capitalism.

The reference by Cory Booker to a “Spartacus” moment is also misunderstood by many. Karl Marx praised Spartacus as an inspiration to “Workers of the World” in the revolution and overthrowing of the Capitalist class.

The people who buy into this bull crap may be “useful idiots” but the people pushing this at the Government Level - local, state and federal - are well indoctrinated Marxist ideologues.

“A Communist is someone who reads Marx and Lenin. An anti-Communist is someone who understands Marx and Lenin.”
