When the norks won half of Congress seemed dizzy with joy. Every time since any US military operation has been met with cries of 'another Viet Nam' and 'quagmire' from much of the political establishment. G W Bush and his administration were called every epithet possible for the Iraq invasion. So why all the moaning and hysteria when DJT orders uniformed personnel to leave Syria (not a large number). A significant part is that the establishment has learned a few things from Gramsci, without ever knowing his name. One of these is declare your opponents wrong on every thing they do or propose while being careful to never offer any alternative. Constant negative criticism damages one's opponent. I would say that Trump took Eisenhower’s “Military Industrial Complex” speech quite seriously. About 60 years too late...but we can see the disaster and degradation that permanent low-level war can wreak on a nation. It is a significant part of the overall deterioration of America as a nation.
