White House acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney thinks the impeachment process will turn into a huge political victory for President Trump, according to a new report.
In a senior staff meeting last week, Mulvaney reportedly said he believes the president could win 45 states in 2020, three sources who heard his prediction told Axios, noting that he wasnt joking or even exaggerating.
Mulvaney also believes that the longer the impeachment process drags on, the better it is, politically, for Trump, these sources added. Mulvaney did not stipulate which 5 states he thought Trump would still lose when he made these comments, a source who heard them said.
His view appears to be based more on instinct than polling data. I have seen no polling that supports his prediction, and at this early stage, responsible polling analysts are extremely wary of predicting which party will benefit more from impeachment in 2020.
But it's possible Mulvaney is echoing the ebullience emanating from the Trump campaign. They are raising breathtaking sums online by telling supporters to give money to help Trump fight the Democrats trying to impeach him. (Axios)

That's one state, Nevada.
What are the five to ten states you expect them to flip?
Correct! The Constitution forbids states from entering into a compact other than the Constitution.
Well, if the black and Hispanic vote breaks for Trump, it will be an electoral tsunami of epic proportion. Watch for it.
“Young Turks Election Night coverage is one for the ages”
You said it! That little wench Ana Kasparian & her potty mouth were highly entertaining.
Strange to see a Turk & an Armenian on the same side since the 1915 massacre.
And how they sliced & diced the Democrats for not being radical enough. Great Schadenfreude!
Wouldnt it be funny if he won every state except California.? LOL
Most likely, in no particular order
MN, CO, NM, NV, NH, ME, VA.. are the states I would watch, and a few more.
Trump may not get all of them, but the further whackadoo the candidate is, the more likely he will.
Basically anyplace Hillary didn’t clear 60% of the vote, I would consider in play... Anyplace she didn’t get 55% the D’s almost certainly lose, particularly western states where Johnson was on the ballot in 16.
We’ll see how it all plays out. I believe this is the status WITHOUT impeachment.. add impeachment to the mix, particularly impeachment over what they are trying to claim is impeachable, and you will see and absolutely slaughter of the D, whoever it is.
And for the record, fi the candidate is Warren... Trump will run the map huge....
Look at any Warren rally, wide angle shot.... and tell me, how many people of color do you see????
She’s a non starter...
“They are raising breathtaking sums online by telling supporters to give money to help Trump fight the Democrats trying to impeach him”
no one asked me: I donated immediately out of outrage against what the Dems were doing ... and i bet almost everyone here who recently donated weren’t asked either.
I think Trump will win BIG. I thought he would iwuin in 2016, too. My thinking was: People were embarrassed to admit they were going to vote for Trump...but they did. I think the same applies now, only more so now since he’s a proven President. The other thing that really encourages me is the Independent vote. Each day I get a poll question from Poll King (e.g., see: https://www.pollking.com/?should-the-electoral-college-be-abolished). What is interesting is they break the responses down my age and political affiliation. Independents are tracking the GOP positions on issues far more that the Dems are winning their support.
“The problem with this next election is that the Dems are not going to be as complacent. Last time they were confident, over confident, that Clinton would win. I’m sure it affected turnout to some degree. They will be more motivated this time.”
very true. but they seem to be having significant trouble raising funds right now, while Trump and the RNC are raking in record sums.
also, the Dems are facing MUCH bigger headwinds than before now that Trump has turbocharged the economy and has established a record in which he’s kept many dozens of campaign promises, something that no other President in history has ever done.
and the of course, their our miles of video clips of the insanely EXTREME leftist stances that Warren and the rest have been advocating with which to hand around their necks in the general election ...
personally, my gut says that Trump will win with bigger margins than in 2016 and will regain the House majority with his YUGE coattails ...
If Pennsylvania can turn, then so can Illinois.
Maybe Nevada, and that's a stretch. The rest are solid blue.
Basically anyplace Hillary didnt clear 60% of the vote, I would consider in play... Anyplace she didnt get 55% the Ds almost certainly lose, particularly western states where Johnson was on the ballot in 16.
I think you're tremendously optimistic on that.
I was told I was insane when I said Trump would take every state in the upper midwest except IL and MN in 16... If the best you have for me is calling me Optimistic.. I am good.
Different elections, different circumstances. Will the Democrats nominate someone who depressed their vote as much as Hillary did in 2016? Highly unlikely.
If you think Hillary “depressed” the democratic vote, wait until Warren is the Nominee...
Seriously, have you looked at her rallies? even the “big ones”?
They are whiter than a ski slope... She’s still born.
I agree with Mick. I think a lot of people are starting to get tired of watching Trump get constantly attacked.
If the choice is between Warren and Trump? They'll crawl over broken glass to vote for Warren.
Huh?
Trump will definitely take New Hampshire and Minnesota in 2020.
Hell, he damn near took them in 2016.
Warren is a still born. Sure the usual suspects will show up to vote D, because they always show up to vote D, but if you think that marginal and disaffected D and I voters are going to crawl over glass to vote for Warren, I disagree completely.
2020 is a throw away cycle for the Dems and they know it.
Warren will bring less enthusiasm to the D base than Dole, McCain or Romney brought to the R.....
2020’s nominee is to keep the base engaged enough so that they don’t get slaughtered down ballot, there is no path (short of a complete economic collapse, or similar scale black swan event between now and next November) for the Dems to the White House.
Trump voters will indeed crawl over broken glass, ALL of the ones from 16 and a HELL OF A LOT MORE in 2020. Folks who refuse or can’t see it, are suffering from the same lack of understanding that let them believe Hillary had it “in the bag” in 16.
I don’t see Blacks or Hispanics crawling over broken glass for Warren. Only the far left will do that.
