In Texas to go from salvage title you just fix it, take it down to the regular annual vehicle inspection station and they have to fill out an extra form. You take that to the courthouse where you get your tags and they will issue you a “salvage “ title.

On newer vehicles that will definitely ding the resale value but if you plan to drive it until it gives up for good it’s a good deal if you can do the work or most of it yourself.

I have bought a bunch of stuff from Copart.com to fix and part out and recommend them.

I will have to look into it. Got one sitting right now. Drivable but not legal.

I looked into a Honda Fit salvage a couple of months ago (repairs were professionally done and documented). My insurance company, however, who I have been with for years, was non-committal on insuring it and the best they could say was “You’ve been a valued customer and we will certainly consider it”. So I went back to buying the new Fiesta ST.
