The author is not a betting man. But I am. So given the right odds (maybe 4 to 1) I would bet that the Senate would vote to remove Trump.
Heres the way I see it. Some GOP senators put country first. Rand Paul is an example of that. But some GOP senators are instead Deep State operatives. Their backers like the status quo. They want the status quo. And Trump is an enemy of that status quo.
So I would be greatly disappointed - but not surprised - if the House voted to impeach Trump, and then the Senate voted to convict.
Well, if you were a betting man, then you would realize that not a single President has ever been successfully impeached since the countries founding.
T is number 45.
Two had impeachments turned over to the Senate by the House.
and then there is Nixon.
...
Dems are rehashing their Nixon glory as a comedy.
any gop senator who votes to impeach would be watched like a hawk until they were out of office at their next election...they would also be scorned in public...they might move to the top of the domestic enemies list when cw II breaks out.
Enough with this Paulistinian nonsense
Rand, who cant even get an assailant who
almost killed him locked up still often votes like
a dope - didnt you see how this crypto-liberal
keeps voting that the border/wall is not a
national emergency
McConnell is up for re-elect in 2020 so is Lindsey, if Mcconell let this happen, he might as well resign and take Lindsey with him.

Given that at worst for these deep State Rep Senators Trump can only remaininoffice another 5 yrs, why would they take the verysolid chance of being voted OUT of office for voting for impeachment? All they need to do is sit tight for another 5 yrs and when Trumps second term is over resume their sordid business?
