With the House now headed down a path that virtually guarantees President Donald Trump will be impeached, conventional wisdom has settled on the idea that the Republican-led Senate will never, ever remove him from office.
Which, I get! If you were a betting person -- which I am not! -- the strong likelihood is that the Senate acquits Trump. Because, well, math. There are 53 Republicans in the chamber currently and 47 Democrats and independents who caucus with Democrats. In order to remove Trump from office, 67 senators would have to vote to do so -- meaning you would need every Democrat and a 20-person Republican revolt.
Which is not likely!

“The Senate better stay sane and NOT vote to impeach. “
They won’t vote to impeach because the Senate doesn’t impeach. The House impeaches.
That would be one way to end the Republican party.
Dont assume American Citizens will never throw out Congress at the point of a gun. It is the primary reason for the second amendment.
Tossing Trump on trumped up charges would be a valid reason to toss out our leadership on their derriere. And trigger a citizen validated election.
As for the leadership of the Coup? Public hanging.
Impeachment is just liberal hate porn because their politics is pure snooze.
Fortunately, McConnell and Graham are on the ballot in 2020. No way the GOP Senate club would throw them under the bus and vote to remove POTUS.
The Senate GOP game plan is to wound POTUS so badly he loses in 2020. But they need Trump voters to get reelected.
Great plan. I'm serious.
Other way is blackmail. Years ago all those GOP sudden urges to retire supposedly happened after "Death's Angels" met with them (to threaten them).
Can't remember but some here reported on some of the ones who had been cheerfully talking about re-election and how they loved their role in DC---and the next day ashen faced and saying for personal reasons they had decided not to run. All may have had private emails and full IRS records in the hands of Clintons. Something like "We'll see how your daughter's fiance likes hearing her psychiatric records in public. Was held at the hospital for two days that time, remember?"
Window seat ex-senator to middle seat one.
"Hey, I didn't know Portugal had all that jungle foliage."
"Uh, hate to tell you but our tickets are for Venezuela. One way."
I disagree with your assessment of Andrew Johnson. Also, structure of the Republic was in an extremely precarious position at that point in time.
And I am reassessing my position on President Nixon given what I have learned over the past umpteen years. I no longer believe that he should have been forced from office.
President Clinton was a huge threat to the Republic. So yes, he should have been impeached and removed. He was very guilty and he had committed crimes.
What we are dealing with today is the continuing corruption from the Clinton era in the democrat party.
No, they do not.
There is no way that the Senate will vote to remove Donald Trump. The house may well vote to impeach him but the Senate has more conservative people. Democrats in the house are easily swayed but not conservative, thinking adults. It will never happen.
You can put your faith in politicians if you want to.
I have no faith in them whatsoever.
No, I’m not interested in betting on the GOP.
DITTO, DITTO!!!
The Trump supporters will not have this, they are going down a dangerous road.
Enough with this Paulistinian nonsense
Rand, who cant even get an assailant who
almost killed him locked up still often votes like
a dope - didnt you see how this crypto-liberal
keeps voting that the border/wall is not a
national emergency
No ‘crime’ needed - a ‘misdemeanor’ will serve.
“Don’t assume the Senate would *never* remove Donald Trump”
Don’t assume that CNN Nazi traitors would *never* be hanged for treason.
Misdemeanor is a minor crime - minor, but still involves a crime.
