Nixon had more support from his party than POTUS ever did. Far more. Things changed at the end for Nixon, of course. The Deep State is dreaming of such a scenario with Trump.

"Nixon did not have the support PT does."

I hope that's the case. The American people folded on Nixon and the Vietnam War because of the ceaseless, daily drum beating about how "horrible" Nixon was - all while Nixon was dealing with an already escalated war 10,000 miles away, a hugely expensive and manpower intense Cold War, the Middle East ('67 War aftermath and '73 War), the Civil Rights crises, an hyper-expensive "Space Race", an Oil Embargo, a recession, an inherited "War on Poverty", etc.,etc.

Nonetheless, he finished the war on decent terms, nailed the NVA when they violated those terms in '73, opened China, started the ball rolling on Glasnost and the end of the Cold War, supported Israel in some tough conditions, and signed the Civil Rights Act.

I will always despise the Left for their vicious and effective campaign to take him down and I'll always be disappointed in the American People for caving in to the propaganda.

I sincerely hope that we have learned our lesson and never fail to support Donald Trump - but our feet were made of clay back then (and the old-line GOP betrayed Nixon by folding).
