Darn right it is high risk, and that is the point. As soon as the concept that law enforcement will not be exempt and have to do their job without being armed is brought up this will all end. Law enforcement will not have it, and the people, not even the left will have it.
The risk will be all on them if they continue to push it after this, all in or fold. If we insist this will be the only acceptable option they will fold immediately and this will all stop.
It’s time to make it clear that we will not accept an armed police state over an unarmed populace, and that if they take any then they take them all. And anyone who believes an armed police state will not at some point be used against an unarmed populace is just plain stupid.
My take on this is that the Left does not fold, they simply double-down on their efforts and they will never stop. They don't care about logical consistency. What they want is unrestrained power.
We can and should insist on a great many things. In order to have them, the Leftists must be removed from their positions of authority. Logical arguments and debate will not accomplish this. Voting still might. Otherwise...
I am not comfortable with heavily-armed Police forces and the pseudo-warrior mindset that is a part of Police training these days. I reject the idea of armed police and disarmed civilian population. I should be able to have any weapon that the police are authorized to have.
