That said, the 737 Max is reported to have had a difficult-to-override system that depends critically on correct velocity readings. Further, that system wasn’t very robust.
I don’t know if an ordinary 737 has that.
Also, I seem to remember that one of the MAX crashes—I think it was the one in Indonesia, had some history on the airplane. The flight before ran into difficulty, and said the sensors weren’t right. The maintenance of them appears to have been questionable, and I don’t think the pilots on the doomed flight knew the history. Sabotage? Maybe, but probably not—it sounds like the 737 Max was an accident waiting to happen.
Yes, that is what our media made it sound like. If you had friends who are 737 pilots, and truly understand how the systems work you might get a different impression.
