Trump is a man who has been the target of constant law suits and is familiar with the process of discovery. He knows his calls are being monitored by known and unknown people who wish him ill.

Knowing that, what could be possibly have said that would give his enemies something to have leverage over him?

This is just a prospective coup attempt - where the Russian collusion allegations were retrospective. Someone has calculated the amount of time for allegations such as these to work their way through the process and be resolved by the various oversight and special counsel procedures, and magically this incident is expected to trigger investigations which will not resolve until...1 month after the 2020 election! Lo!
