Trump Hits Back At Lindsey Graham: If You Think It Was Weak Not To Bomb Iran, Remind Yourself How Iraq Turned Out
My favorite thing about Trump is how little he gives Graham on foreign policy despite Graham kissing his ass relentlessly in hopes of turning him into a hawk. Its commendable on the merits, in that Trumps reluctance to wage war is a welcome corrective to the McCain/Graham-style of hyperinterventionism that ruled the GOP for years. But its also gratifying on a gut level, even as a Trump skeptic. One of Trumps more likable qualities is his penchant for publicly humiliating all the lickspittle Republicans who try and ride his coattails, writes C.J. Ciaramella of Reason, remembering how Chris Christie was treated during the 2016 campaign. Its true! What could be more enjoyable than watching Graham toady to the president day and night after dismissing him as a kook and a national security threat in 2016, believing that it will buy him influence over foreign policy, and as his reward having him endure daily reminders that Trump is far more inclined towards Rand Pauls fopo views than Lindseys?

I’m a Reaganite and he defeated enemies without war.
Not true. President Reagan sent our Marines, Navy, and Special Forces to conquer Grenada after it was overrun by the Communist Cuban military.
This was an air, sea, and ground invasion. The Classic Definition of WAR.
President Reagan also directed attacks on Iran and Libya.
Special Forces were involved as were Marines but, the taking of land was extremely limited and transitory thus, it didn’t fit the technical definition of war.
The objective was to eliminate the Iranian air force such as it was. The elimination of the Iranian Navy. Ditto. And, the disabling of military outposts on islands in the Persian Gulf and the Straights of Hormuz.
All was accomplished in short order. Yet all this involved the Death and Destruction of an Enemy by way of limited and targeted objectives. Meant to intimidate and influence. Not to conquer and take over.
Doves, like you call this WAR. It is NOT WAR. It is ACTION. It is RETALIATION. It is RETRIBUTION. PUNISHMENT if you will.
Words mean things. There are definitions that accurately describe things.
Very well then - President Trump needs to tell Congress that if they’re so desperate to go to war with Iran, they should take a vote and declare a war. Let the bloodshed be on their hands.
Hopefully more intelligent minds will prevail. Nothing else needs to be done in the open to make a point.
Not true. President Reagan sent our Marines, Navy, and Special Forces to conquer Grenada after it was overrun by the Communist Cuban military.
That was not a war. It was a weekend rescue operation, like sending national guard to a hurricane victims.
We defeated the Soviet Union without a war. In the middle east, Reagan rejected the neocon push for getting involved in a war - even after Marines were killed by terrorists.
This. Exactly this.
Remember all of the dem screeching about how President Trump would start global nuclear war on Inauguration Day? Such imbeciles.
BOMB IRAN?? US??? WHY??? Let Israel and Saudi Arabia and friends do it! Good for President Trump!
Here’s a few likely suspects, Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, John Fn’ Kerry.
My thoughts exactly.
I think Israel should be the most worried, they are the ultimate target, eventually it will be the entire planet
Exactly. I’ve been mixing it up with war hakes all over this thread. For God’s sake some of them are chomping on the bit for a war with Iran.
Iran should be annihilated along with 90% of the Middle East. It would save a lot of $$ and lives in the long run.
Quite right,. I’ve been telling my friends that Trump is the last person that would start a war. It just isn’t good business for the country.
