Journalist John Solomon has rocked the Washington media world by announcing his departure from the Hill newspaper and the Hill.TV brand he created to start his own media firm.
In a memo to his team, Solomon wrote, After two-plus amazing years at Hill.TV I am moving on next month to build my own startup media company.
He did not reveal any details about his future plans for an online media site.
In his memo, he praised the Hill, his TV group, and Capitol Hill Publishing Chairman James A. Finkelstein. With Jimmy's vision and your continued great work, I am confident Hill.TV is destined for even greater success in the future, Solomon wrote.
Long an investigative reporter for the Associated Press, the 52-year-old reporter over the past decade has worked to push the Washington Times into profitability, started Circa, was president of Packard Media Group, and also headed the Center for Public Integrity, which investigates politicians and funding.
The well-traveled Solomon was an investigative reporter at the Washington Post before he was named executive editor of the Washington Times in 2008.
In July 2017, he was named executive vice president of the Hill.
He has become well-known on TV, frequently appearing on Sean Hannitys Fox show to discuss the Russia-Trump investigation and related stories.

I glad he dumped The Hill. Its nothing but a hive of leftist scum.
He ought to team up with Sharyl Attkisson.
Hmm that’s interesting, I didn’t know about that.
Levin TV et all is also tied in with Glenn Beck in some way.
Hannity is the worst, but they all overbook and say all too often we’re out of time.
Then the host, Hannity/Ingraham the worst, talk for from 30 seconds to 3 minutes or so.
And Hannity with his “repetitive memorized lists” of how wonderful and smart he is, is why I don’t watch him unless someone I really want to see is on.
Then he does the false modesty thing, “Sean Hannity, little ol’ me,” which means just the opposite.
I can’t count the number of times I am hanging on every word a good pundit is saying when Hannity/Ingrahm will break in and talk over the guest.
He is condescending to everyone except Levin.
Talks up how good his guest is, then cuts them off just when they are getting to the conclusion of their very good points.
Can’t wait until Solomon gets up and running with his new project.
Could you re write this sentence, I can’t figure it out-I’m sure it’s some type of typo:
“Levin joined up with Blaze TV and wasnt happy that Steyn yes Blaze TV.”
Thanks. It’s that word “yes”
Now for my comment:
We need to remember how anti-Trump that Levin’s Conservative Review was for a long time.
I think Levin preferred Cruz, but I don’t remember.
One of the best investigative reporters of our times. American patriots and America itself owe him a debt of gratitude for his brilliant work.
Good luck in the future John. We still need you in the field.
I think it may mean that the FISA abuse investigation will be HUGE and Solomon wants unimpeded authority to continue his work on it (ie, blow it wide open!), and reap enormous credibility, fame, and all that goes with it.
~~~~~~~~~
I like your thinking!!
That would make sense for both of them.
Best of luck to John Solomon, a real journalist.
I wish John Solomon the best. We need him.
Wow...very well stated and factual.
But I don’t have tv service, so that is my only news source.
Hannity is annoying. (but on the right side) :)
I NEVER understood Solomon being at The Hill? Square Peg....Round Hole.
I wish Steyn had his own radio show....he is SMART and HILARIOUS!
I notice the past few days, Hannity has been slightly more reserved that way.
He has always given certain guests the courtesy of space. Mark Levin comes to mind. Otherwise, he is extremely disrespectful. The audience knows Hannity's rant by heart, he repeats it several time an hour. Other people have news, corrections, relevant and important details to help Sean, but Sean is having none of it. Too bad.
Back to the subject, now I understand why John Solomon's Twitter has been quiet for so long. He's one of the handful of reporters that I trust.
He did. Levin also lied about the meaning and relevance of the SCOTUS case, Rogers v. Bellei. That case states that children who are "automatically" made citizens at birth are naturalized without a naturalization ceremony. That makes Cruz a naturalized citizen.
I totally lost trust in Levin with that stunt. When he's right, he's great - but he cannot be trusted to always be right. He is bull headed and will NEVER admit error.
“yes” should have been “sued”. Also, Levin has changed his tune about Trump based on Trump keeping his promises as best he can given the circumstances. Levin has a financial stake in Blaze TV, so of course he is not happy with the financial hit against Blaze TV.
________
Yes
I thought Steyn would be a slam-dunk on TV where ever he went. Can you or anyone else tell me how Steyn and Levin got cross-wise?
Just did a google search and found a Steyn Online called The Verdict which provides a link to a summary of the trial between Steyn and CRTV.
Basically, CRTV sued Mark (who counter-sued) over breach of contract. CRTV sued Mark for failure to produce a contracted show and Mark countered that CRTV failed to provide the studio they promised Mark to produce the show. Steyn won approximate $3 million in damages from CRTV.
As Mark put it, paraphrasing: People asked me, Why didnt you just walk away? CRTV sued me. I couldnt walk away. So I defended myself.
When I first read about Steyns TV difficulties, I though he and Levin were on the outs. Now I learn that Levin simply had another show on the same network that was enlisted Steyn. Its eye-opening reading!
I have not heard about this.
Did Steyn try to start his own You Tube channel or something?
I do know he has been in very expensive litigation with a NASA global warming scientist for many years.
I have a dream:
When President Trump is no longer president, he will run for Governor of California and straighten out that blasted, ignorant, swamp dwellers paradise ONCE AND FOR ALL.
But, I want him to enjoy his life after presidency, so I guess that will never be.
