I saw a segment on FNC where someone said that the ladies who were interviewed by O'Donnell and blamed the editors for removing the essential detail also spoke on NPR and totally stood by their story--the apparent remorse for the misleading NYT story was all a sham.

Under Sullivan you can only sue the New York Times (if you are a public figure) if you can prove malice.
Editors intentionally hiding known exonerating information looks very close to malice.
