I was in Texas two summers ago visiting family. The morning we were leaving out to come back home, our route took us by a park next to a lake that I have frequented many times.

The park has always had open hours clearly posted of “daylight to dawn, no overnight camping!”

This morning however, in the park were no less than 200-300 persons of almost certain Mexican descent , and at least 25 large tents of various bright colors. There were basically no automobiles of any kind there, giving the impression they were going to be there a while.

I have loved this little park all my life, and rarely felt so angry or violated. Haven’t been back since, or have any immediate plans to, because I’ve been told it’s common now and things may never be the same again.

He is my congressman, this is a very red district. Midland/Odessa have had an influx of liberals coming to work in the oil industry. But I’m sure we’re safe. The Democrats will probably be out hard on gun control after the shooting there.
Hurd voted with Democrats on immigration.
Wasn’t one of the remaining 3 resignations because of a health issue?

I expect a massive effort by Republicans this election season because without Texas, Trump and the Republicans are dead meat.

“N.C. 9 was a huge indicator for me as to where current voter enthusiasm lies. I also don’t think the people of Texas are going to take kindly to impeachment.”

Right but don’t tell the doom and gloom losers here that. You’ll ruin their whole weekend. If these people can’t pis and moan they wouldn’t have anything to say at all.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz: ‘Texas is a battleground’ in 2020

He predicted that President Donald Trump would still win Texas, though by a closer margin than his 9-point victory in 2016 over Democrat Hillary Clinton. He likewise said Sen. John Cornyn would be reelected, despite facing what’s expected to be his toughest challenge in years.

While Trump’s campaign said in May that Texas is “not a swing state,” Cornyn and others have been sounding the alarm for months that Republicans need to be on guard. Cruz said that if Republicans are going to prevail, they must communicate their message to voters and turn out at the ballot box.

“If the left shows up in massive numbers and everybody else doesn’t, that’s how we end up with an incredibly damaging election,” he said, adding that “if we lose Texas, it’s game over” in the presidential race.

I didnt like that either. But he has been mostly supportive of Trump. I guess some people that share your opinion would have rather had Senator Beto?

Yes, that was my basic point. The worst thing though is the author of the article is an R candidate for Congress in Texas.

Re: “doom and gloom losers”

There is nothing wrong with acknowledging the worst case scenario and being prepared for battle. But yes, the “all is lost/whoa is me/demographics” crowd gets old.

I imagine many of these retirees in TX were buying into the “Trump is toast in the burbs” narrative. Turns out, not so much. 2018 was 2018 but this next election the voters know the nature of the dem losers on the top of the ballot. This next one will have different motivations from the mid-terms.

But buying into media narratives is what the GOPe does the best. Just like in 2018 they bought lock, stock and barrel into “Russia Collusion” being real and ran for the hills.

***************

Another thing I like about Texas is that they send out a new voter registration
card every two year cycle to the last location that the person gave when
registering. The card is not to be forwarded but instead returned to the
registrars office to be reviewed and taken off the voter roles if needed.

Texas has a Super Majority, two GOP Senators and the Gov Chair.
Roll up your sleeves and fix Texas, throw out the Infiltrators and stop listening to Rove.

We need to fight for black votes and legal Hispanic votes. They aren’t all liberals.

Texas is one of the States (all Republican) actually doing something to prevent voter fraud.

I have no idea what is coming in 5 or 10 or more years but Trump won Texas by 800,000 as a total unknown and this time he has a record and a good one it is. Trump has almost a 50% approval among all those Hispanics the crybaby gloom and doomers are concerned about. That represents an almost 70% increase from the average of about 30% usually enjoyed by Republicans.

People vote their wallet and it has always been that way. They will do so again. James Carville, old snakehead said it best, “It’s about the economy, stupid”.

No. But they didn’t get out and vote in anything like the numbers that they normally would and if the time comes when Republican control of the Senate is not in danger Ted will be gone.

He went way too far and should have immediately and profusely appologized.

The perception is two things.

1. Ted doesnt think the leftist attacks were really wrong.
2. The people who support him (as opposed to just holding their nose and voting for him) dont see much wrong with the attack either.

Very disappointed in the American Thinker. Usually, always until now, a trusted source.

This article is pure BULLSHIRT! The retiring Congressman all have legitimate reasons to do so.

Second, most illegals don’t vote.

Third, Hispanics love Trump.

"These guys are probably looking at their districts and seeing 30% more Hispanics living there over the past few years. "

30% more Hispanics that shouldn't be voting, but probably will if the Dems think they can get away with it.
