Democrats have spent years denying they'll take people's guns. Not anymore.

Beto O'Rourke did something new for a major Democratic presidential candidate at Thursday night's debate when he said, very clearly and without any prevarication, that he'd take "weapons of war" and certain guns away from law-abiding Americans.

"Hell, yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47. We're not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore," said O'Rourke, a former congressman from El Paso, Texas, who has re-created his presidential campaign around the issue of gun control after a mass shooting last month in his hometown.

O'Rourke is one of three Democrats, along with Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey to support mandatory buybacks for certain guns. Other Democrats would make them illegal but not require them to be bought back by the government. That was O'Rourke's position, too, until the shooting in El Paso.

At the debate, O'Rourke had been asked whether he was ready to take guns away from people. He said yes, "if it's a weapon designed to kill people on a battlefield, if the high-impact, high-velocity round, when it hits your body, shreds everything inside of your body because it was designed to do that so you would bleed to death on a battlefield and not be able to get up and kill one of our soldiers."

Remind me which branch of the military Beto served in?

First of all, if Biden said this it would have made about as much sense. Second, was he saying every hunting rifle would be confiscated, because it sure sounds like it. Of course, nobody will follow up with these clowns.

If they even try to confiscate weapons in Texas they have a long road to haul.

Beto’s little army better bring lots of body bags.

Robert Francis O’Rourke has no empathy for the military either, as he considers all this exchange of gunfire just so much dreadful theater.

Therefore, nobody, not the military, not the police, not the FBI, should have guns. It should all be done diplomatically, of course, and simple dialogue will solve every conflict.

See, now they say any talk of acts of resistance as threatening them and they are calling the FBI. These cowards talk big sh*t to steal our property, and then cry like little children when faced with push back.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love FREEDOM enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Correct me if my memory falters, but wasn’t the 1st (few) ‘gun control’ cases ruled Kosher since they DIDN’T involve ‘weapons of war’ (IIRC, the sawed-off shotgun...though it WAS used [aka ‘trench sweeper’])??

Now, the Left flips the narrative (as they are wont to do) & judges skip the whole ‘precedent’ angle so they all can have it both ways.

This response is now being considered a “death threat” by the banners and is being reported. In fact some are saying that people who say this should be ‘red flagged’.

So two of the Bill of Rights are being shredded.

Oh, did I leave off “for a cup of coffee”? Perhaps his fellow Texan merely meant his AR was ready to be picked up? Guess the demokkkommies are just paranoid. So, just a SWAG here. The gun thing wasn’t an issue when they controlled both cesspools and the white hut?

Yes. The Miller decision was decided along exactly those lines. Here is the relevant quote:

The Supreme Court ruled that forcing a $200 tax on sawed off shotguns was constitutional because they were not weapons of war. Now the government wants to ban AR 15s because they say they are a weapon war. Fortunately for them we have too many people who are too ignorant of history to know this.

Yeah, the gloves and masks are off. Americans have been dumbed down to the point they’re truly ignorant of socialism’s realities and the pimps in the RAT party are going to exploit that.

The truly wonderful thing that all this reveals is just how far gone these Soccer Moms really are. They simply cannot fathom the idea that millions of Americans would simply say “no” to them. They truly think their Government can simply declare the Social Contract null and void and everyone would go “ah shucks”. What kind of nursery do they live in?
