Israeli intelligence agents were likely behind the placement of surveillance devices near the White House, U.S. intelligence has reportedly concluded.
Politico reported Thursday that U.S. investigators had determined that Israel was most likely the culprit responsible for placing StingRay phone trackers near the White House, with the apparent purpose of capturing information from phones used by President Trump or top White House aides.

Anti-Israel news is as suspect as anti-Trump news.
Exactly, yet my surprise would come only if there was anything gentle about it from either side.
The only thing a LITTLE bit special about the US/Israel case is the pressure to almost NEVER talk about it, permit it to be reported.
"Will not be HELPFUL" -- a description so concise yet so treacherous and far-reaching.
I seem to recall News Gingrich’s phone call being recorded back in the Clinton years......
It was. Supposedly, that was picked up by a scanner, an independent receiver of radio. The StingRay devices are different. They get data about phones without the owner making a call.
Did it start with Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump?
The article doesn't say.
Early stingray may have been possible starting with Bush but I would think this was going on with Obama and then Trump.
The Gingrich calls were made by an old, retired lib couple, using very rudimentary gear, as they drove in their pickeup behind Gingrich as he rode in the back of a DC limo:
What more would an actor at the STATE LEVEL be capable of..?
I shudder merely to contemplate it.
Stingray has had maybe 5 or more different names over the years:
“Dirtbox” was one that stuck for a long time.
It was once the size of a refrigerator, then a trundle-box, then a large suitcase.
Now?
Sheesh, it must be like a large cell-phone. I’d wager it’s called something else, too.
It goes back to Clinton, but in a more fixed, non-mobile form it goes back further than that, for sure.
What would you say was the aspect of the story that struck you as the funniest, the least credible..?
Sure, I just bet those sneaky Israelis did it instead of the FBI who help create them.
And if you were seeking info on the most powerful country in the world that tries to interfere with and or affect your national affairs, why wouldn’t you do what Israel did?
Does anyone think the NSA is NOT listening in on every conversation in Israel that Netanyahu has??
Spycraft is part of statecraft, always has been always will be.
If a U.S. President does not want Israel doing what Israel is suspected of doing, then that U.S. President needs to tell the Palestinians they are 100% on their own, and need to find whatever solution they can in one-on-one negotiations with Israel. The U.S. will defend Israel as an ally if other nations attack her. But the Israel-Arab solutions in the West Bank and Gaza are up to whatever the Israelis and Arabs can work out on their own - the U.S. will take no part in it. End of U.S. “diplomacy” over the issue.
The first realistic post in this thread..?
BTW, I just watched a new Netflix mini-series titled The Spy. Its about Mossads top spy in Syria in the early 60s. I highly recommend it. Very fascinating how Eli Cohen got into Mossad and how he then got into Syria and eventually into the highest ranks of the Syrian government. It stars Sacha Cohen (yes, Borat) in this dramatic role.
Some of the posts in this thread are astonishing.
If I recall the story correctly, the story is that they tapped the main trunk cable that fed the phone lines into the entire city or something like that. From that they could hone in on the phone lines they were interested in listening.
