Can someone translate those like me who are slow on understanding this? thanks. Is Brexit happening? Is it delayed?

Parliament passed a bill requiring Prime Minister Johnson to ask for a 3-month extension unless he gets a deal with the EU that is approved by Parliament. There is some question about whether he will obey the law but likely he will (or will be ordered to do so by the courts if he refuses). But it is not 100% clear that the EU will agree to a 3-month extension even if he asks for it.

I wasn’t invited to a funeral or anything.

I was just passing on a rumor.

Pretty ironic if Marcon and Merkle end up making Brexit happen in 6 weeks.

What about holding a No-Confidence Vote and forcing a general election?

I guess that doesn't matter with this bill?

Just, Wow.

Are the NO options left?

Sovereign Parliament can rule like Kings?

Vetoing a bill hasn’t been done since 1708 with the Scottish Militia bill, yet it would have been a perfectly lawful and constitutional thing to do. Instead, he allowed the bill to pass through Royal assent and become law, a law which he will now have to break in order to keep his promise, which is a far less preferably precedent to set. Unless I’m missing something, Boris has been a complete idiot. He could have stopped it becoming law instead of allowing it to become law and then telling everyone he is going to break it.

Vetoing a bill would be an act of the Crown (which is the British term for the executive arm of government). As Prime Minister, Boris wields this power in the Queen’s name. He could have used it, but he hasn’t. I hope he has a good reason for not doing something that would have been perfectly legal and constitional instead of allowing it to become law and then threatening to break it as if we are a banana republic.

Close, 1708 was the last time the monarch refused her assent, in regards to the Scottish Militia bill. Queen Anne, specifically.
